| I cannot begin to descibe what a
difference implants have made in my life. My top
teeth were becoming weaker and could no longer hold a
bridge. The ones left (already capped) were
constantly falling out and giving me pain. I had to
do something. I felt too young to get
dentures. My bottom teeth were not as bad, but
I knew it was just a matter of time. I had 4 actual
teeth of my own left on tom and 10 on the bottom.
I had a consultation and free panavision
x-ray. Liz Madigan explained what the procedure was
and that first I'd have to get a scan to see if my bone
structure was adequate to hold the implant. I had
gone for another consultation with someone my original
dentist had recommended, and they charged $200 for the
x-ray and consultation. Liz was very warm and
encouraging and knowledgeable.
Liz sent me to get the scan in
Manhasset. I was very happy that the scan showed
that I had sufficient bone. As I had lost the top
back teeth many years ago, I did not think the bone
structure would be adequate. So I had passed the
first hurdle.
My visit with Dr. Coleman was very
informative. He told me of the immediate load
process where I would have temporary teeth immediately and
would never need a denture. This got my attention,
as it was exactly what I wanted. We discussed doing
the top and bottom at the same time, since then he could
mold the entire mouth structure more strongly. My
husband came with me. And of course, the only
hesitation was the cost of the procedure. After much
debate and thought, I decided to go for the entire top and
bottom.
It was the best thing I have ever
done. It is one year later, and I am thrilled with
the results. The procedures are long and intensive,
and I prefer not to remember the discomfort and pain
involved during the surgeries. I had the top surgery
done in Decemeber 1999 adn the bottom surgery one month
later in Jan 2000. By August 2000 I had my permanant
teeth. It is now 6 months later, and I love
them. In fact, I had to go to the hospital in
October and the first question they asked, did I have any
removable bridges or dentures, I could happily answer
"No." It made me feel so good to have my
own teeth during the operation and overnight in
recovery.
Dr. Colmen is a wonderful surgeon,
dentist and person. Whenever I needed him, he was
accessible. During the temporary stage (Jan through
August), there were times that I needed reglueing,
etc. He always made accomodations for me. I
recommend this process wholly without reservation.
As I said, it was teh best thing I ever did for
myself. The money is well spent. I would be
glad to talk to anyone who is considering getting
implants. I love mine.

| I went to the dentist on a regular basis
from grammar school until now. I did not neglect my
teeth. All the work, however, did not last and about
three years ago my regular dentist advised me that he
could not correct the poor condition of my teeth and
gums. After many root canals and crowns, bone loss
caused weak areas in my mouth to the extent that I lost my
normal bite, and infection of the roots meant some had to
be removed. I did not smile too much and was
determined to find a solution. The answer was dental
implants and the dentist was Dr. Robert Coleman.
Dr. Coleman examined the many problems I
had and set up a plan and a realistic schedule I could
work with. He explained implant technology and
assured me that with a plan for one area at a time I could
finally get back a normal bite and smile. Together
with Dr. Coleman and his staff, the work started on one
area at a time. I had to make a few extra trips to
the office so he could monitor the progress of each
procedure, but at least I knew that there was a personal
goal in the end.
The implants I now have are great and
easy to take care of. For the first time in many
years, I actually have a normal bit using all of my teeth
in the process. I can smile again and am very happy
with the results. I have learned to take the time to
clean around the implants and take care of them.
This whole effort was a team approach, and with Dr.
Coleman's expertise I realized I was lucky to find
him.
I may ask him to do some cosmetic work
on my remaining front teeth after all the implants are
in. The implants look so good that I would like the
front teeth to match. I know Dr. Coleman will set up
a schedule with me, and in time that, too, will be
done. I had to start somehwere and now know that
implants are the solution to the problems I had, and I am
sure many others will benefit from the
technology.
I only wish I had know about implants 10
years ago. I would have started earlier and avoided
many duplicate bridges and crowns that would only last a
few years. My advice is to get started on the road
to your permanent smile.

Dear Liz:
Just a line to let you know that I am
extremely satisfied with my dental implants. Since
getting them in an dnot have to deal with a set of
dentures, I can't tell you how much more comfort and self
confidence that I have now.
I am so glad that I made that choice and
recommend having implants vs. dentures any time.
Yours truly,

Dear Liz:
I would like to thank you and Dr.
Coleman for your professional and cautious
treatment. You made what could have been a very
painful experience, as pleasant as possible. The
quality of services was excellent, and is so rare in
today's world. Once again, thank you and Doctor
Coleman for your excellent treatment.
Sincerely yours,
Robert |

My Experience with Dental
Implants
by Helene
Before I decided to get
dental implants, I literally knew nothing about them.
All I knew was that I didn't want to continue wearing the
bridge that was presently in my mouth. I had
experienced bone loss and receded gums which resulted in the
loss of 4 upper right teeth. Unfortunately, my wisdom
tooth had already been extracted, and the only way to secure
the bridge was to attach the false teeth to a plate which
extended across my entire palate and then anchor it to a
tooth on the upper left side of my mouth.
Eating was uncomfortable and
messy, and I slurred when speaking since my tongue was not
used to hitting this plate on my palate. Smiling was
only done with my hand in front of my mouth.
After doing some research, I
decided on dental implants. I met with several
dentists and then made my decision. Something about
Dr. Coleman's manner made em feel very confident and
comfortable, and his credentials were certainly
impressive. Thanks to Liz Madigan, I knew exaclty what
to expect. She spent as much time as I needed to
explain the procedures, allay my fears, and answer all of my
questions.
Over a period of two years, I
had several procedures done, as I needed a sinus lift and
bone graft before the implants could be secured. With
each visit to Dr. Coleman, I became increasingly convinced
that I had made the very best choice. And I couldn't
be more pleased today. I eat everything, speak
clearly, and smile a lot! |
| Two years ago Dr. Coleman performed a
bone graft, a sinus lift, and installed four upper
implants. They're like having my own teeth. I
floss and I brush daily, and that's it. I certainly
recommend implants over dentures. I will only use
Dr. Coleman as I've had great success with his
procedure. Thanks again doc.
Sincerely,
Robert |
| I'm opening my mouth to thank Dr. Coleman
for helping me in so many ways. Firstly, my fear of
dentists. I've cried, honestly. Secondly, his
patient explanation of what had to be done so that I could
eat properly (which I now can do) and smile without
feeling self-conscious. Thirdly, I now know that
having implants means I have a lower denture that does not
shift or come loose in my mouth. Now I do not have a
care in the world in reference to my mouth. If
anyone would like to talk to me directly in reference to
dental implants, I 'll be glad to answer any questions.

| When I first heard about Dr. Coleman I
called and made an appointment with Liz, the Implant
Coordinator. I told her that I was interested in
dental implants.
Liz explained the procedure, gave me an
idea of the cost and took a panorex x-ray. I then
met with Dr. Coleman, he told me what he could do for me,
and I decided to give it a try.
I had three implants placed in my lower
jaw and a lower denture that snaps into the
implants. I am very happy with this and now I can
eat anything I want.
After wearing a lower partial for many
years, I find the implants to be a lot stronger and more
comfortable. Five years have passed and I am still
very happy with the implants.

Before I
found Dr. Coleman in 1992 my problems were, an upper
denture that looked false and needed a lot of fixident to
keep it from moving, and a lower partial that I did not
like.
My first
appointment I met with the implant coordinator, Liz, who
taught me all about dental implants.
She took time to explain the whole procedure to me,
answering all my questions, in a very relaxed and caring
manner.
My second
appointment I met Dr. Coleman along with Liz.
I felt he was extremely qualified, concerned about
my comfort and appearance.
After his meeting I chose Dr. Coleman to do both my
implant and general dentistry.
Dr. Coleman placed three implants in my lower jaw
and made a denture with fittings that attach to the
implants. My
lower denture now holds firmly in place allowing me to eat
corn on the cob, firm apples and pears, and any thing else
I want to eat. Dr.
Coleman also made a new upper denture for me.
It fits so well I do not have to use and fixident
and it is hard to tell that it is a denture it looks so
natural.
I
recommend Dr. Coleman to anyone who is interested in the
finest dental care available.
His staff is very professional and cannot do enough
for you. I
still come in twice a year for cleanings with the
hygienist followed by an exam with Dr. Coleman.

In June
1995 I became aware of Dr. Robert Coleman while listening
to the radio. After
research into reputations, ability in the dental implant
field of various DMDs, I decided Dr. Coleman was the man I
would trust to do my dental work.
Now after
five and a half years I know the right decision was made.
The implant surgery performed by Dr. Coleman was
outstanding. The
implants are as solid as a rock, there is no movement at
the posts, and the surrounding gums are extremely healthy.
Would
I do it again? I
would only if Dr. Coleman was available.
